Theatre Scholar 2021 - Erin Sanders

Erin is a member of the Richard Montgomery High School class of 2021. She plans to attend the University of Maryland, majoring in theater with a concentration in lighting design and stage managing. She always loved theater and started participating in the school's drama club in her freshmen year. She loves working behind the scenes as a tech person (specifically in lighting or as a stage manager) and is currently a technical director. Her dreams are to be able to work full time in theater whether that be community theater, broadway, or both!

Danielle Carter

Finalist - Danielle Carter

Danielle is a graduating senior at Richard Montgomery High School who is going off to study Political Science and Theatre at McDaniel College! She is currently playing Lucille Frank in Parade and Mother in Ragtime at Ovations Theatre and is Assistant Stage Manager for Pippin at The Free Theatre. She also recently played Miss Scarlet in her school’s production of Clue! Some of her favorite shows she's been in include Cabaret, Hair, The Little Mermaid, and Lend Me A Tenor! She loves participating in all aspects of theatre whether audience, backstage, or onstage and is so excited to continue to do so in college!

Ali Saffell is a senior at Richard Montgomery High School. She is a part of her school Black Maskers Drama Club (4 years) and Shakespeare club (1 year), as well as the New Voices Program at Olney Theater (3 years). She has been a director, actor, playwright, as well as being a part of casting, producing, running crew and set construction crew. She was able to produce her own play in her school's One Act Festival as well as contributing to the thematic programming of the next several years of the New Voices Program. Ali will be studying Theater and Film at Towson University.

Finalist - Vishrut Shukla

Vishrut is a senior at Thomas S. Wootton High School who has been doing theatre since the 8th grade. He has since done over 15 shows at Wootton and the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. Vishrut is grateful to his family, friends and theatre mentors for supporting him all these years. Vishrut is excited to continue his theatre education at American University over the next four years.
